Public Employment Service Latvia

Mission of the State Employment Agency is to ensure that unemployment reduction policies are implemented by providing effective, employment-friendly services in the public interest. It provides to jobseekers them with timely and qualitative assistance in order to enhance their competitiveness in the labor market; organizes or implements active employment measures and preventive measures to reduce unemployment; prepares proposals for the development and implementation of state policy in the field of unemployment reduction; evaluates the implementation of active employment measures and preventive measure; anticipates labor market developments in the short term, including employer surveys; provides career counselling for the unemployed, jobseekers, unemployed persons and other persons, as well as regularly improves the informative methodological basis for the provision of career counseling services.
