The classification of European skills, competences, qualification and occupations (ESCO) and complex big data analysis techniques were used to extract information on most required skills and jobs across countries and regions of Europe.
Overall more than 50 thousand of vacancy websites – private and public job portals, recruitment agencies, online newspapers and employer websites - were accessed. During the period of July-December 2018, Cedefop’s system has collected more than 32 million of unique vacancies from these sites. They provide information on more than 400 occupations and 1500 skills.
Online job vacancies are a rich an unique source of skills and labour market information; but they also needs more analysis and testing to ensure they provide sound evidence for policy makers and career guidance practitioners. Cedefop now showcases the potential of its system and continues working hard on its improvements and fine-tuning. More European countries will be added into the system during the course of this year and the fully fledged tool with more features will be released by the end of 2020.
